Lake Monticello is a gated planned community located approximately 25 minutes from Charlottesville in Fluvanna County Virginia.
There’s a wide variety of homes at Lake Monticello (a community known by locals as simply “The Lake”). The community has offered some affordable alternatives to the often more expensive home prices in neighboring Albemarle County, and because of the configuration of the lake itself, many homes at Lake Monticello are waterfront properties. There’s an active Homeowners association and the shared amenities beyond the shared recreational lake include a pool, tennis courts, a clubhouse/restaurant, basketball, numerous beaches, boat launch and marina, 18-hole golf course, trash collection, and security patrol.

The history of Lake Monticello is fascinating (I personally love details such as “the first dog in Lake Monticello was named Inky”). Though the idea for the lake and the development was conceived as early as 1958, it was in the late 1960-1970’s that housing began in earnest. It is located in the Fluvanna County School district.
